INTRODUCTION
Our country contains large no of historical places and beautiful valleys, lakes, rivers, mountains and glaciers. Every year thousands of tourist visit these places. These tourist belong to our countrymen and multi nations. Tourists remember their precious time spend in these areas by their thoughts and photography. One of the most beautiful place of Pakistan is Swat valley.
LOCATION
Swat lies in between 340- 350 latitude and 720- 740 longitude. Swat is located at the base of Handukkash mountain ranges. It is the part of the province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Swat lies between the region where South Asia, Central Asia and China meets
HISTORY
The history of Swat valley goes back to around 2000 years ago. It was known as Udayna and later it was changed to Suvastu then it modern name is Swat valley. The valley was peaceful area until 11th century. The Valley was first conquered by Mahmud of Ghazn. In the time period of 19th century Swat valley was under Akhund Sahib who believed in Muslim law.
BUDDHISM IN SWAT VALLEY
Swat is thought to be a birth place of Vajrayana Buddhism. There are so many historical sites in the district and Buddhist relics which are common evidence that show their skills of architects. Swat was also called the “holy land of Buddhist learning and piety”. It was said that I early times the Buddha himself came to Swat in the process of his last reincarnations and he spread the learning of peace and harmony. It was also mentioned in the history that Alexender of Macedonia had fought many major battles in this land.

After all the entire valley has so many attractions and natural beauty. There are so many places in the valley to visit like Buddhist Stupas, Swat museum, Margazar, White Palace and Fizza Gat and Saidu Sharif. There are also major lakes of Swat Valley that are Mahodand, Kundal, Khapiro and Spin Khawar. Every year Swat Mela held at Swat valley.
Climate and language
The best season for visiting the valley is from March to October. The climate of valley is always pleasant. The major languages spoken in the area are Pusto and Kohistani.
